Alas!
I clutch my chest with baited breath
A place to play the width and depth
of the poet urge that lurks within
the rhymes to weave and tales to spin

A place to lay the wordage bare
to see the feelings wander there
a place where pen and paper spin
the pent up words that crouch within

I wait on peevish poets too
like Arctic and our SharpTongueSue
So BRING IT friend, this is your test
But we all know I AM THE BEST!

(pardon me! I have no idea where that came from!)

Uno sneaky, Uno sly,
I won't be baited by the by.
My poem-ings done,
I shall not write,
though you may try with all your might.

I'll mention too that I hate chicks.
Can't stand their peepings, don't need that fix!
Fresh farm air I do despise
I shun the view before my eyes.

So tease me not, I do insist
or I shall exit from this list.
What I'll do, I do no know...
Maybe purchase Monsanto!

How did my poem get in it's own thread? I thought I had posted it in the 'let's have a poetry heading" thread. Hmm, the world is a mysterious place.

Dearest Sue I will relent
but just for now, I do repent
of the fiendish crime of baiting you
but oh my lord, it's fun to do!

YOu hate farming, you hate chicks.
You hate fresh air out in the sticks.
Okay, I'll play your grumpy game.
We all know your poem is lame.

You hand-make hay, for heaven's sake!
YOu cut, you turn, you stook and rake.
Shhh, everyone, we'll pretend
Sue's days of farming are now at end.

I'm sorry dear to ruffle you so
sparring gets out of hand, you know.
Now don't you think I am hater,
We'll meet again, catch you later!

Are you two done?
Are you two through?
I've got better things to do
than sit and read these riffs and rhymes
and hear about Sue's hard chick times.

There is so much more
than this to see
and Uno? That cat's better than me?
Maybe so but not at this,
I've spent years in writing bliss.

Though I digress, I must admit
My skill at rhyming is the pits
but I thought it would be worth a try
because by and by
I hope to get to know you peeps
and learn alot about chickens and sheeps
and about being a homesteading farmer through and through
admittedly, its a joy to have met all of you.

So I think I'll close this up and say
I hope y'all have a lovely day
and after rhyming, I need a rest
but that still doesn't mean Uno's the best.
And Sue, may you not worry about chicks that peep
and remember there are envious people, like me
who would love to have those peeping chicks
to peck around the yard
and make our lives more authentic ones
even if its a little hard.

Woo hoo, aha, and a yippee!

Albeit new, albeit shy
within her talent doeth lie!

shall convert this place to po-et-tree!

A playful quip?
That made me jump, it made me skip

Now, to lie in wait for Uno's play
I'll stay tuned during this sunny day,
but only some and not as much
its too nice outside and such

But, this evening I shall return
to see what fires blaze and burn
between we poets in this post
(with how we brag, and how we boast)
and hope that maybe others see
how fun this is, this po-et-tree.

Clap clap clap, wow you guys are great.

Sweetened, Sharptongue and Uno rap
'Bout chicks and spring and writing crap
'Spose I should be all in a flap,
but then I noticed y'all just got the clap!

So, Sweetened claims this po-et-tree
Is fun for you and fun for me!
I believe it's what I heard her say,
So now, I'll just jump in and play.

I'll try this trick of rhyming words
About my peeps, about my birds.
Because I love them, love them true
As I am sure you do too, Sue!

I love their cackle on the nest
I love their eggs – they are the best
I love the little fluffy balls
That come so fast when Momma calls.

I love the incubator's hum
That calls me often just to come
And take a peak into that box
Like some hungry, waiting fox.

So much to love, but I now I know
That it is time, to bed to go.
And so I must leave these rhyming ways.
For other folk and other days.

Who needs cable when you have this thread to entertain yourself?! Not a poet but sure am enjoying others' talents.

Look at this, this 'Arcticsun'
Rhymes and leaves like its all done.
But nuh-uh no way, no not to day
my friend, it's just begun.

The clap you say? Like the STD
or the round of applause you'll never see
because your rhymes are weak,
they're short and stout...
not a lot to go on about.

There is one thing I might suggest
(quoting Uno whos... not? the best),
For a place to lay your wordage bare,
you should try not here, but there.

But, then again, this happychicks
has me all a quiver
Oh! no, no wait I take that back,
the 40 below made me shiver.
Though chicks' rhymes are soft and true
I think I have to say
it's sad that she has left it to
other folks for other days
for I thought a worthy opponent be
hanging in for Sue and me
to continue battle, poking jest
since uno's only once the best
and has not returned here for the fun...
I guess they just turned tail to run.
